For many, a move to Bali is a dream that can come true. A paradise island: sun, ocean, exotic fruit and unity with nature.
In the last couple of years, more and more Russians come to Bali and stay long-term, working remotely and starting their own business on the island.
Follow these instructions and make your move as comfortable as possible:
- Decide on the length of your stay. Are you coming to Bali for a long stay or to move here permanently?
- Find a tourist or visa agency in Indonesia that will help you with the paperwork for the move (and later with the paperwork for permanent residency).
- Once you have all the documents, decide on the type of visa to get for entering the country. It can be: e-VOA (apply ahead of time online); VOA (apply at the airport on arrival).
- Find those who live in Bali. There are many chats, groups, etc on social media now. You will find much help there.
- Find a place to live. The demand for accommodation in Bali is high. It is almost impossible to find a good villa a month before your arrival. Start looking ahead of time. Once you book accommodation, feel free to buy plane tickets. All direct flights from Russia to Indonesia are now cancelled. But there are ways to get to Indonesia with layovers.
- Learn about living conditions. Plan your financial situation in Bali. It is hard to make payments with Russian bank cards. You can find out more through your agency or by chatting with people who live in Bali. Know that your cell phone might not work in Indonesia. You will have to register your mobile device in special offices.
- Decide whether you will look for a job. There is a limited number of professions in Bali that allows foreigners. You would also have to receive a work permit, KITAS. A visa agency can also help you with that, in accordance with all the rules and requirements for working in Bali.
Best of luck in your preparation for the move, the transition and adaptation to life on the dream island. We hope you love Bali!
