Family Visa E31
Residents of Indonesia hold family traditions sacred, because for them, relatives are the center of life. Indonesians respect foreign families no less, which is why the country has a special E31 visa for family reunification. It can be used by spouses, parents, as well as natural or adopted children of Indonesian citizens or KITAS holders.
About the visa:
Family KITAS is issued to people who are officially married to an Indonesian citizen or a foreigner who has a Work or Investor KITAS, as well as their children under 18 and parents. Without the right to work.
Who can be joined following Family Kitas:
- E31B – Family visa of a KITAS holder. A person who will join the family as the Spouse of the Limited Stay Visa or limited stay permit or permanent residence permit holder, such are Employee, General Investment, Research activities, Student, Diaspora, Retirement, Remote worker, Second Home, and Golden.
- E31C – Child of Indonesian parents. Child one of whose parents is an Indonesian citizen. A child born from a lawful marriage in which either of the parents is an Indonesian Citizen and recognized by the Ministry of Home Affairs of Indonesia or the Indonesian Mission
- E31D – Stepson/stepdaughter of an Indonesian citizen
- E31E – Children under 18 years of age, whose parent is a KITAS holder. A person who will join their parents in Indonesia as an unmarried minor (under 18 years old) of Limited Stay Visa or limited stay permit or permanent residence permit holder, such are Employee, General Investment, Research activities, Student, Diaspora, Retirement, Remote worker, Secondhome, and Golden.
- E31F – Adopted child. A lawfully adopted child of Indonesian Citizen.
- E31G – Legal parent of an Indonesian citizen aged 21 years or older.
- E31H – Parent, whose child is a KITAS holder. A person who will join his/her children in Indonesia as a parent of Limited Stay Visa or limited stay permit or permanent residence permit holder, such are Employee, General Investment, Research activities, Student, Diaspora, Retirement, Remote worker, Secondhome, and Golden
- E31J – Sibling. A person who has a family relationship with a sibling staying in Indonesia, as an unmarried minor (under 18 years old) of an ITAS or ITAP Holder).
How long can I stay with this visa?
A Student Visa is issued for 1 or 2 years and can be extended. The visa has all the advantages of a residence permit, you can open an account in a local bank, and join parents following this visa.
Can I extend my visa?
Yes, the visa can be extended for another 1 or 2 years.
How many days I will have to activate the visa?
This visa must be used within 90 days from the date of issue. The first day of arrival to Indonesia – the first day of visa validate.
How to get a visa?

- Valid Nationality Passport at least 6 (six) months.
- Proof of living expenses of at least US$ 2,000 (two thousand United States Dollars) or equivalent.

- Proof of guarantee from the Guarantor.
- Documents from KITAS holder (Passport, Birth certificate, etc).
